Langenbrunner

Shawn M. Langenbrunner, age 54, of Esko, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital Campus, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He was born February 13, 1964 to Robert and Jan (Myrmel) Langenbrunner. Shawn graduated from Cloquet High School in 1982. As a child, Shawn was involved in Cub Scouts, with his mom as the Den Mother. After graduating from Duluth Technical College, he worked in broadcasting at a local TV station and later was employed as a PCA. After enduring many hardships, Shawn turned his life around through the grace of Jesus Christ whom he credits for his sobriety. He was actively involved in AA and influenced the lives of many. Shawn greatly appreciated all the friends/family that he gained from AA. He became very involved in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church after his rediscovered faith. He enjoyed very much being a lector and a Eucharistic Minister at Mass and also valued the responsibility of helping bring Communion to the homebound. Shawn was also a member of the Legion of Mary who prayed the Rosary at the nursing home and enjoyed chairing the church picnic and was glad to see the many people who came to participate. He was recently inducted into the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Sons of American Legion. He enjoyed volunteering at the Damiano Center and the Union Gospel Mission and thought of it as his way of giving back for all God had done in his life. Shawn's family was very important to him, they were very close and he loved them very much. He was very proud of his siblings and treasured all the many phone calls, visits and time spent together. Spending time at the lake in Grand Rapids with family was one of his favorite things to do. In addition to family, Shawn had many friends from all walks of life that meant a lot to him. The family of Shawn would like to thank the Saint Mary's Hospital at Mayo Clinic, 6th floor ICU staff for the exceptional care and devotion given to Shawn. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity that Shawn was involved with.

Shawn was preceded in death by his wife, Trina; his father, Bob; his grandparents and many extended family members. He is survived by Kelly Burggraff, whom he dearly loved; his mother, Jan; brother, Fr. Steven Langenbrunner; sisters, Jodie (Buck) McCullough and Jami Charon (Dave Mathews); nephews, Ryan and Tyler Charon; nieces, Elora (Luke) Carlson, and Jillian McCullough; step-children, Shela, Todd and Shelly Tormanen.
