Nevin Warren Johnson

Nevin Warren Johnson, 58, of Bloomington, MN and formerly of McGregor, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis after a courageous battle with cancer. Nevin was born January 22, 1959 in Aitkin, Minnesota to Warren and Regina Johnson. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1977. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served nine years and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in several areas including California, Germany, and Korea. He was later employed at the VA Medical Center for over 30 years serving in various capacities, most recently in the Safety department. Nevin also was a proud member of the Bloomington Fire Department for over 20 years. He was also a dedicated member of McGregor VFW Post 2747 and also was a member of the Dale E. Wayrynen American Legion Post 23. Nevin lived to serve other people, whether it was in the military, the fire department or helping many friends when needed. Nevin's beautiful daughter, Isabella Rose, of whom he was so proud, will forever be in his heart. Although he resided in the Twin Cities, Nevin's true roots always remained in McGregor. Nevin always found it important to stay connected with past military members, firemen, co-workers, classmates, relatives, and his many friends.

Nevin was preceded in death by parents Warren and Reggie Johnson, and sister, Anne, who died at birth. He is survived by his daughter Isabella Rose ("Rosie"). Brothers: Tim Johnson (Debbie) of Cook, MN and Ted Johnson (Karen) of Inver Grove Heights, MN. Nephews: Jacob Johnson of Staunton, VA, Nick Johnson of Inver Grove Heights, MN. Nieces: Kendra Johnson and Bailey Johnson - both of Cook, MN. Visitation will be Friday, December 8, 5-7pm at the McGregor Funeral Home in McGregor. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 9, 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
