Robert "Bobby" John Kintner

Robert "Bobby" John Kintner

#24 Bobby Kintner, 54, of Parkville, finished the race of his life on Sunday October 8, 2017 with his biggest supporter, his wife Karla, by his side. He crossed under that checkered flag at 1:30pm after a grueling 24-month feature fight, against his toughest competitor ever, colon cancer. A celebration of life will be held Saturday October 14, 2017 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Range Funeral Home, Virginia MN. As per Bobby's request, please wear jeans, t-shirts, or work clothes and be prepared to laugh and reminisce about his life. Bobby was born August 23, 1963 to Robert "Butch" and Janice (Ritacco) Kintner in Eveleth, MN. He was a 1981 graduate of Mountain Iron High School. Bobby did his "secondary education" in the school of hard knocks. At the age of 12, his Grandma Annie would drive him to the family gravel pit, where he would drive equipment and work until his Grandpa Lawrence said it was time to go home for the day. He continued in the construction field working for C. Kintner Co., Ken Jacobsen Construction, Economy Ready-Mix, and his final employer, Seppi Bros. Inc. At age 16, Bobby was asked to substitute for a relative and drive a racecar. He was good at it and he was hooked. This past year he was inducted into the Hibbing Raceway Hall of Fame and drove his racecar that night to an 8th place finish. He raced 3 more times in Hibbing to complete a 37 year racing career. Bobby married Karla Bachel on July 3rd, 1997 and just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. "Where did he find a girl like that? Kinney". Bobby was also a strong supporter of his sons in MIB sports and activities and he attended as many of those events as his schedule allowed. Many times he could be heard yelling, "finish it!" in the gym, on the course, or on the field. He established many friendships with the players and their parents.

The family would like to thank the Fairview Oncology and Fairview Northstar Hospice teams for the care and compassion they provided during this journey.

Bobby is survived by his wife Karla, sons Casey and Riley, mother Janice, all of Parkville, MN, brother Scott of Minneapolis, MN, niece Madeline of Bemidji, MN, mother-in-law Debbie Bachel of Kinney, MN, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Butch, paternal grandparents Lawrence and Ann Kintner, maternal grandparents John and Pauline (Dolly) Ritacco, father-in-law Don Bachel, sister-in-law Kelly Bachel, and his dog Charlie Racer.
