* A proposed ordinance broadening the scope of equal opportunity will be presented to the Duluth City Council tonight. Drafted by Victor Ulmer, assistant city attorney, the ordinance would eliminate the present seven-member commission in favor of an 11-member Equal Opportunity Commission.
* Parks professionals from six states and two Canadian provinces are in Duluth for the Mid-Continent Regional Park and Recreation Convention at the Radisson Duluth Hotel. James Klobuchar, author and columnist for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, will speak at tomorrow night’s dinner.

* More than 300 people yesterday attended a meeting of the Fond du Lac Reservation Business Committee to discuss the sharing of profits from the band’s gambling casinos. The committee agreed to a
reservation-wide referendum to decide how the money is used.
* People drinking or buying alcohol during city-sponsored outdoor events in Superior will now be required to purchase a $1 wristband indicating that they are of legal age.
