Iron Range residents invited to join committees on proposed co-location

Residents of the three Iron Range school districts proposed for co-location in Mountain Iron are asked to join one of the various committees being formed to work on the process.

School leaders from Eveleth-Gilbert, Virginia and Mountain Iron-Buhl school districts will be asking residents to approve a proposal that would lead to a $110 million grade 7-12  school meant to be shared by students and teachers that would keep taxing authority and sports teams separate for each district.

Former state Sen. Ron Dicklich is coordinating the six committees, which include those for curriculum, extracurricular activities, facilities, finances, transportation and a joint powers agreement on governance and administration.

Residents interested in joining any of the committees are asked to send a letter to one of the superintendents — Deborah Hilde, John Klarich or Deron Stender — by

April 29. See for details.
