Two hospitalized after fire destroys home in Duluth

Two residents were transported to a local hospital after a trailer home in Zenith Terrace was totaled by fire late Monday night.

The Duluth Fire Department reported that it arrived to find the home, located at No. 1 Greenbriar Drive, fully engulfed in flames at 11:13 p.m. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire, but the flames had mostly consumed the home. The total cost of damages is estimated at $100,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the fire department.

Two men exited the structure on their own and were transported to a local hospital. One man was treated for smoke inhalation. The other man was treated for severe burns and is now in the Miller Dwan Burn Center, according to the fire department. A dog left the structure with the men and was OK.

The heat from the fire damaged the siding on an adjacent trailer home, but the owners are able to stay in their home, according to the fire department.
