Moorhead woman injured in home fire possibly started fire herself
MOORHEAD, Minn. – Moorhead Police have identified the homeowner who was injured in a fire that has been ruled an arson.
According to information released Thursday, March 22, Constance Gail Thompson, 64, was home alone when she called 911 to report her house at 1924 29th St. Circle S. was on fire around 9 p.m. Monday, March 19.
Thompson was taken to the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for treatment of injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
The Moorhead Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze, which caused significant smoke damage, police said.
The Moorhead Fire Marshal and police ruled the fire was the result of arson. Moorhead Police said the investigation is ongoing, but the case is expected to be forwarded to the Clay County Attorney's Office in the near future for review and consideration of criminal charges against Thompson.
