Cloquet police investigate thefts

The Cloquet Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating the person or persons responsible for two major theft and burglary cases that occurred in the Cloquet area over the weekend.

According to Detective Darrin Berg, the Savanna Pallet Co. on Tall Pine Lane in Cloquet reported that staff discovered Monday morning that someone had entered the building within the previous 48 hours. Berg said several items were taken, including hand tools, power tools and welding equipment with a value in excess of $5,000. He said area pawn shops have been notified to keep an eye out for the stolen goods.

In addition, Minnesota Power reported that someone had cut the gate open and stolen copper ground wire from its substation in Scanlon. Berg said the burglary and theft are thought to have taken place sometime over the weekend as well.

The Cloquet Police Department is continuing to investigate both cases, but have not yet identified any suspects. The police are asking for assistance from the public in identifying and apprehending the person or persons responsible.
