Iron Range authorities seize $170,000 worth of marijuana
About $170,000 worth of “high-grade” marijuana was seized from an Iron Range home last week, authorities said Tuesday.
Members of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force found 36 pounds of marijuana inside the residence at 3691 U.S. Highway 53 in Fayal Township during the execution of a search warrant Friday, according to Sgt. Luke Hendrickson. Officers also seized multiple firearms.
Hendrickson said a 60-year-old man was initially arrested on a third-degree possession charge but was released the same day pending further investigation. The News Tribune generally does not identify suspects until they have been formally charged.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Eveleth Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspection Service conducted the search.
