St. Louis County has new K-9
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has a new crime-fighting weapon to serve the northern part of the county: Smith & Wesson.
That’s Deputy Ryan Smith and his new K-9, Wesson.
Wesson, a German shepherd from the Czech Republic, recently completed a 12-week training program and is certified to work patrol. He is trained in narcotics detection as well as search and apprehension, the county reported in a news release.
Wesson is one of four K-9s working for the sheriff’s office.
The Amsoil Northland Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation chipped in $7,500 to help cover the cost of acquiring and training Wesson; donations are accepted at northlandk9.org.
