Depot to celebrate 125th anniversary
The Depot in downtown Duluth will host a 125th anniversary celebration on Wednesday, featuring music, dance and history — along with cake, punch and champagne.
The free event takes place from 4-7 p.m. inside the historic landmark structure, officially known as the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center, that opened as a train station in 1892.
At 4:30 p.m. in the Great Hall there will be remarks followed by a combined Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra-Minnesota Ballet performance of Mikhail Fokine’s “The Dying Swan,” followed by a tap dance performance by the Duluth Playhouse.
There also will be Civil War re-enactors in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum; two new exhibits to see at the Duluth Art Institute; and guided tours of the Immigrant Waiting Room exhibit “Duluth’s Ellis Island.”
