Northeastern Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Coordinator Holly Kostrzewski joins the Pressroom Podcast this week to discuss distracted driving, impaired driving and what measures you can take on the road to make sure you get to your destination safely.

She explains the Toward Zero Deaths campaign and how it’s making drivers more aware of what they do behind the wheel. She also shares some of the stories she's witnessed first hand from riding along with state troopers in the 19 counties she oversees, including a lady who was playing Candy Crush on her cell phone while driving.

Holly also says little kids make the best “sheriffs.” Put them in charge and they will let you know when you are doing something you shouldn't be doing while driving.

What we are into this week: Trout fishing, HBO series The Newsroom, Spotify and music streaming, and an all-girl hiking gang that walks along the Lake Superior Hiking Trail.

Tune in every week to hear Duluth News Tribune reporters Brady Slater, Christa Lawler and Tom Olsen talk about current Duluth and Northland happenings. You can email us at, call our podcast line at 218-382-NEWS or follow us on Facebook.
