Photos: Sister City delegation returns to Duluth

Koresh Lakhan (left) talks to Glenn Peterson at the Duluth International Airport on Sunday. Lakhan headed the five-member Duluth Sister Cities delegation that visited Rania, Iraqi Kurdistan; Israel; and Jordan. “The people were so hospitable in our sister city,” Lakhan said. “They pulled out all the stops to welcome us.” But he said people the delegation met with are apprehensive about what is happening in America, including President Donald Trump’s executive order temporarily banning citizens of seven Muslim countries and refugees from entering the United States, an order that a federal judge in Washington state has temporarily blocked. “There’s some fear that longstanding relationships are going to be tested,” Lakhan said.
