* Duluth marine leaders are hopeful that wreckage of a Welland Canal lift bridge rammed yesterday by a freighter will be cleared in time for autumn shipping traffic.

* Four juveniles and an 18-year-old yesterday became the first people arrested for violating Duluth’s new park curfew during an apparent beer party in Lincoln Park.

* A flood of contractors is expected to surface now that the Duluth City Council has approved an ordinance requiring residents to disconnect foundation drains and install sump pumps.

* After tour stops in 107 cities around the world, the mega-musical “Les Miserables” opens next week for eight performances in the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Auditorium. Duluth is one of the smallest markets the show has played.
