* A series of thunderstorms tore through the Twin Ports yesterday morning, dumping over 3 inches of rain in six hours. The Duluth International Airport measured 3.25 inches of rain, just short of the average total rainfall for the entire month of July.

* Most of the major construction is now completed for the new terminal at Duluth International Airport. John Grinden, airport executive director, said yesterday work on two passenger bridges and surface coating on roadways and parking lots still need to be done.

* During the next two weeks, West Duluth will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the village of West Duluth becoming part of the city of Duluth. Events include Spirit Valley Days and tours of historic homes in West Duluth.

* Skyline Family Medical Centers has been bought by First Plan of Two Harbors, a health maintenance organization, it was announced yesterday. The purchase could lead to more services and doctors at Skyline, which has offices in Duluth and Proctor.
