Eh?: Breath of life
Eh? knows how easy it is to plan a weekend tackling projects around your own home. Even if that project is finally tackling that Netflix instant watch queue that has gotten way out of control.
But don’t forget there are things you can do to get that fresh-scrubbed feeling deep in your soul: volunteer.
The Armory Arts and Music Center is holding a volunteer work day Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to clean old mortar off bricks and fix up some windows.
The cleaned bricks will be used to replace damaged brick work paid for in part by a grant from the Minnesota Historical Society’s Legacy funds.
No experience? No problem. Paul Webster will be on hand to demonstrate how to remove old mortar from brick. No safety equipment? Also, no problem. Work gloves and safety glasses will be provided. No more excuses? Excellent.
Volunteers should meet at the Armory Annex building next to the Armory at 1325 London Road. So bring a friend, long pants and closed-toe shoes. If you have a masonry hammer, bring that, too and come breathe new life into some old bricks.
