Winds cut power to more than 500 Monday

Strong winds Monday caused trees to fall on power lines, resulting in outages across the Northland.

According to Minnesota Power, more than 500 residents in Duluth and 62 in the Wrenshall and Carlton areas were affected. The outages began about 2:45 p.m. and lasted until just before 6 p.m.

As of press time Monday night, there still were a few outages, but most customers had their power restored.

“We appreciate all of our customers’ patience today,” said Amy Rutledge, Minnesota Power spokeswoman.  “Our crews are hard at work to fix the outages.”
