Dorothy McManus

Dorothy McManus of Hermantown will celebrate her 100th birthday with an open house from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center, 2501 Rice Lake Road in Duluth.

Dorothy and her husband, Scott McManus, who passed in 1989, lived and raised their three children, Kathy Hanson of Hermantown, Mike McManus of Proctor and Randy McManus of Pike Lake at their home on Midway Road in Hermantown that Scott built in 1940. The family also enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Fish Lake.

Dorothy worked at the Hermantown General Store, served on the supervisory committee of the Hermantown Federal Credit Union and was dedicated to many volunteer activities in the community. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Citizen award in 1992. She was a member of Women of the Moose in Proctor and Grace Lutheran Church in Hermantown where she loved making quilts with the church quilting group.

Dorothy now enjoys visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
