Best Bets: ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ and ‘Hamlet’ at the Duluth Playhouse

About this time every year, the Duluth Playhouse’s Education Program does a switcheroo: The cast of teens are split between two productions. This time, half will perform “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” half will perform “Hamlet.” Meanwhile, the half that isn’t performing is involved with the behind-the-scenes: tickets, tech and marketing.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” is set in NYC in the 1920s and is the story of young Millie and her search for self — all with a jazz soundtrack.

“Hamlet” is “Hamlet”: death, ghosts, battles — the usual Shakespeare fare.
