Best Bets: ‘Take It With You’ live radio theater

It’s a place where everybody knows your name.

It’s a place where someone might be easily coaxed into a song.

It’s part sitcom/part variety show, and it’s set in a bar and it’s performed as live radio theater.

The fourth episode of “Take it With You” plays Tuesday at The Underground.

The show, which is billed as being like “Austin City Limits,” “Cheers” and “A Prairie Home Companion” stars Blake Thomas as a bartender named Blake. Other cast members include Mary Fox, Andy Frye, Robert Lee, Zach Stofer, Ryan Robert Nelson, Andy Bennett, Katy Helbacka and Lane Prekker.

Shows are available for download — but there is a bit of in-the-know that comes from seeing it performed live.

This month’s episode features guests Scott Laderman, author of “Empire in the Waves: A Political History of Surfing” and, as always, Mayor Don Ness.
