Faces & names: Minneapolis author Erdrich wins short story prize
Louise Erdrich, Minnesota winner of a National Book Award, is among 20 winners of the O. Henry Prize for short stories of exceptional merit.
Erdrich’s winning story,”Nero,” is about a 7-year-old girl who visits her grandparents and connects with their guard dog. It appeared in the May 7, 2012, New Yorker magazine. Winning stories will be included in the anthology “The O. Henry Prize Stories, 2014.”
