Ethel "Bobby" Schelin of Scanlon celebrated her 100th birthday with lunch at Applebees followed by cake and ice cream at Suncrest in Scanlon.

Bobby was born Feb. 15, 1913, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and adopted by her father, Stanley Wiles, and his wife, Emma. She grew up in Alborn and attended Alborn School. Bobby married Glenn "Shorty" Schelin in 1936 and built a home on Schelin Lake. Bobby was a teacher in the St. Louis County District, teaching at Brookston and Alborn schools.

Shorty and Bobby had four children: Charles (Donna) of Onalaska, Wis., and Washington, Utah; Barbara of Albuquerque, N.M.; Greg (Cherie) of Proctor; and the late Roberta.

Bobby still enjoys a good game of cribbage, and skunking is even more enjoyable. Knitting, reading and bird watching occupy her time that isn't spent with family, friends or doing Suncrest activities.
