Reader's view: Duluth parking fines are driving tourists away

I understand the need to have tourists pay to park in Canal Park, but the experience we had was ludicrous.

We paid $2 in advance and came back to our car 15 minutes after our time had expired. That happened because we were waylaid by watching an ore boat come in. And we were ticketed. We could pay online. When we got home and logged in, our ticket was for $12. We were six hours late for the deadline to pay it, however, so we were assessed a late fee of $5. Processing was $3.50. The total was $20.50 — for being 15 minutes late to a meter.

Duluth, you are chasing tourists away; trust me.
