Best Bets: Time to get all red, white and blue-y

The annual Fourth Fest celebration ends with a fireworks display. 2010 file/ News Tribune

Things get extra red, white and blue-y during the annual Independence Day celebration at Bayfront Festival Park. Fourth Fest includes live bands, food vendors and it all ends with what is billed as Minnesota’s largest fireworks extravaganza.

Highlights of the entertainment lineup include the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest in addition to the Concert & Jazz Band and local favorite Big Wave Dave & The Ripples, a

well-dressed, funk-soul band that performs original tunes in addition to highly danceable covers.

Stick around for all the heavy vowel sounds that go into describing an aerial light display.

Meanwhile, next door in the parking lot of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, the Mighty Thomas Carnival will be spinning, winging and deep-frying.
