Eh?: Panning for seeds
The Duluth Seed Library will host a free do-it-yourself workshop for gardeners at 6 p.m. July 24 in the Duluth Public Library’s Green Room, 520 W. Superior St.
Participants will learn how to make quality wooden framed screens to use for cleaning seeds, in the class taught by Jahn Hibbs, executive director of the Duluth Community Garden Program.
When all is said, done, sifted and sorted, each person will leave with a finished set of two screens, including a scalper and a sieve. Scalpers are used to catch large debris while allowing the seed to fall through, and sieves retain the seeds while allowing dust and smaller particles to fall through.
Registration is required. To sign up, and for more information, call (218) 730-4236 or go to duluthlibrary.org.
