Hayward Bait & Bottle Shoppe should have been hopping. This was Saturday morning, opening day of Wisconsin’s inland fishing season. But the shop was eerily quiet, silenced by the winter that would not surrender.
UPDATE: The former U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sundew left the Minnesota Slip and was moved to the LaFarge property near Bayfront Festival Park today. New owner Jeff Foster hopes to keep the Sundew there until after July’s Tall Ships Festival.
Under the conservation plan, the property would be left in its natural state and be open to the public for recreational activities including fishing, hiking, cross-county skiing, trapping, hunting, snowshoeing, nature study, wildlife appreciation, photography and swimming.
