Many area organizations wouldn't be able to keep going without help from volunteers. If you have a few free hours and are looking for a productive way to spend them, try responding to one of these listings. You'll get as much out of it as the organization does.
Even though Americans have not been asked to cut down on the amount of meat, pork or wheat products we eat so the government can send more food to war zones, there are many measures we can take to support the troops. Let's do it.
Judging by the success of the Lakewalk volunteer efforts last weekend and the increasing number of volunteers showing up for the city's Pick A Day volunteer program, it looks like folks are embracing the idea of volunteering for the city during this time of budget cuts.
Our view: Money’s tight. Everything’s being cut. And with the government doing less, we regular folks are being called on to do more. We need to step up. We need to declare in loud, clear voices: YES, I CAN HELP!
