For the past 22 years, elementary school students at as many as 11 schools have helped the Department of Natural Resources stock trout at Duluth-area ponds and streams. But starting next year, because of hatchery changes that complicate the logistics of stocking, it will have to be done without the kids.
Although Duluth is facing an upcoming federal money deadline for the completion of the Lakewalk system, it shouldn’t give in to landowners’ overblown demands.
