A national coalition of women’s groups called on CBS on Monday to scrap its plan to broadcast an ad during the Super Bowl featuring college football star Tim Tebow and his mother, which critics say is likely to convey an anti-abortion message.
The Super Bowl commercials this year weren’t as impressive as Bruce Springsteen or Jennifer Hudson. Advertisers relied on babies, animals, slapstick and splashy effects. In a ho-hum crop, the standouts were the familiar Clydesdales and newcomer Conan O’Brien.
The News Tribune asked some local sports people (and one well-known mayor) who they like in today’s big game, and the results aren’t too surprising. While the Steelers are a heavy favorite, a lot of folks like going for the underdog.
