Robert D. Lund, a native Duluthian recently named vice president of General Motors Corp., will be guest of honor and principal speaker at the 55th annual Duluth Day Dinner on May 24.
The Minnesota Nurses Association announced late Tuesday that Duluth nurses came to a tentative contract agreement with St. Luke’s hospital that would raise wages 4.5 percent. The three-year agreement would go into effect in July and run into June 2016.
I read with excitement the March 11 business-page story, “Locally grown food moving mainstream in Northland,” which highlighted the important announcement by Duluth’s Essentia Health Systems that it would be purchasing 20 percent of its food from local sources by 2020, which would be in line with the Superior Compact.
Since last month, St. Luke's has been making iPads available to all the
patients in its birthing center as a convenient way to share educational information with new parents. The iPads replace TVs and VCRs.
