Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “The question is not whether we will be extremists but what kind of extremists will we be. … The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.” One might interpret his words as inflammatory, but what Dr. King meant was that it is easier to die for a cause than to find creative, effective means to fight.
The first rally organized by the Northland Anti-War Coalition drew about 2,500 people in January 2003. But an October 2008 rally the coalition organized to protest the Iraq war attracted only about 150 people. Where did everybody go?
