There are no more houses of prostitution in the area now that the Yoshiko Sauna in Duluth has been shut down, the woman accused of running the business told police, according to a complaint charging her Friday with profiting from prostitution.
The Coalition for Community Change, or C3, a group of Lincoln Park business owners and residents, are forming a nonprofit to spruce up the neighborhood, scrub it clean of drug dealers and prostitution and, in the long run, revitalize the area.
Tips from apartment tenants and other community members led Duluth police and the Lake Superior Drug and Gang Task Force to arrest five people Wednesday after a five-month crack cocaine distribution investigation, police said.
According to the police report, Yoshiko Sauna has operated as a massage parlor since 1991, but it wasn’t until June 2008 that the owner applied for a massage establishment license.
