Mark Winson, newly named chief administrative officer for Duluth Mayor Don Ness, told the News Tribune this morning that he will leave city employment May 8.
Michael Ashcraft will replace Winson as chief administrative officer.
Every organization needs the right person at the right time. And the head of the organization known as the city of Duluth has decided that the right person for these tumultuous times of financial affliction is Mark Winson.
Around City Hall, beginning as early as last October, it was well known that Duluth Mayor Don Ness was not pleased about his relationships with city councilors, unions representing city workers, employees and the public.

Mayor Don Ness today announced that Mark Winson will be rehired as the city’s chief administrative officer, and that Lisa Potswald will oversee ten divisions as director of public administration.
