Unless the city of Duluth and Johnson Controls Inc. can settle their disagreement beforehand, the two sides will meet with an arbitrator April 12 in Minneapolis to get down to the serious business of determining who will foot the bill for a projected $3.75 million shortfall in “guaranteed savings” at the city steam plant over the next 15 years.
The Duluth school district says it’s confident it can beat back a new lawsuit that seeks to stop the schools’ long-range building plan dead in its tracks. Bu not surprisingly, the group that sued says it will prevail.
Johnson Controls Inc., which makes building and automobile systems, said Thursday its fiscal fourth-quarter profit was nearly wiped out by charges related to job cuts and other restructuring costs during the quarter.
