A former Superior property management company, Apartment Finders and its owners Michael and Shirlene Anesi are under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for the alleged theft of more than $120,000.
According to the Duluth Area Association of Realtors group, 209 homes sold in the area in August, exactly the same as 2009. The average price of those homes was $160,445, up 5 percent from August 2009.
It was a familiar sight for Sarah Benning, the city’s solid waste compliance officer, when she turned the corner recently to an alley behind Sixth Avenue East in Duluth’s East Hillside neighborhood, an area she calls “one of the worst in the city” for violations of city code.
