The Obama administration on Thursday issued a directive that halts logging, mining and road building in roadless areas of national forests. The directive potentially covers about 62,000 acres of the Superior National Forest in Minnesota.
The Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council voted to allocate $20 million to the “Forests for the Future — Upper Mississippi River Project” in fiscal year 2010 and to allocate a similar amount in fiscal year 2011.
