The spring concert for the Duluth Superior Symphony’s youth orchestras — the Youth Symphony, the Concert Orchestra, the Sinfonia and the Percussion Ensemble — is 3 p.m. Sunday at Marshall School. They will perform classical and pop music.
REVIEW: Symphony Hall at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center was elegantly rowdy on Saturday night, and the mysterious “Q” was in the first violin section. For two hours the energy and intrigue of James Bond filled the room — 50 years of music and seductive espionage.
REVIEW: Maybe it was barometric, maybe it was the beautiful acoustic shell, maybe it was the combination of of Mueller, Berlioz and Brahms, but Saturday night at the symphony was one powerful, resonant, coherent experience.
The variety presented by the DSSO on New Year's Eve was beyond description, with symphonic excerpts, “pops” orchestral pieces, music for the Earth Harp and MASS Ensemble, and a special visit from Ariana Savalas.
“Even the orchestra is beautiful,” proclaimed the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra program on Saturday night. This turned out to be true, since the orchestra offered a strong supporting role to the DSSO Chorus performing
The greatest delight as the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra performed the score of "Psycho" as the movie played Saturday was the true presence of live musical ambiance in the DECC's Symphony Hall. The movie seemed more real because the music was very real, as sound waves vitally energized the room.
