Brock Taylor looks nothing like an offensive tackle. The wiry 6-footer sports a slighter frame than the running backs he blocks for, but Taylor and his fellow Hermantown “anti-hogs” make up for their lack of bulk with athleticism rarely found along the offensive line.
The monkey’s off their back. With a business-like and multi-faceted rushing attack, the Denfeld Hunters raced past crosstown rival Duluth East 56-12 in a Mississippi 8 Conference game Friday night at Public Schools Stadium.
Something is different at Denfeld High School this year — and students are scared. That was the sentiment from parents Thursday night as they met with the school’s administration to discuss fights involving students on and off school grounds.
To prepare for the May 12 prom, Duluth Denfeld High School senior Michael Manning has been practicing tight dance turns in his wheelchair, which he controls with his head. The hardest part, asking the girl, was done weeks ago.
Best friends since high school, Pat Munger Lehr, Betty Myhrman Lahti, Shirley Smith Kilgore, Claudia Christianson Nimrichter, Karen Johnson Somrock, Wanda Bussa and Joan Mitchell Asperheim recently gathered in Duluth to celebrate their collective 75th birthday.
Duluth's annual all-city musical for high school students is especially important this year because students from Denfeld will attend Central in the fall. The musical gives them a joint project before sharing hallway space.
