The News Tribune has been offering its endorsements all this month for the upcoming election. A recap follows. But our picks are just the beginning of the conversation. What will really matter will be what you think — and what you decide and just that you make sure to get out and vote on Nov. 5.
I have been the promoter of numerous events in Duluth for many years. These events, including Tall Ships Duluth 2013, have a huge economic impact on Duluth and the entire region. We often require government’s cooperation in order to ensure not only a great event that brings thousands of visitors to Duluth but a safe event.
I am supporting and voting for Jim Stauber in the race for St. Louis County commissioner. I am a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and recognize in Stauber the same values many in our Armed Forces have: “duty, honor and country.” These were the words spoken by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to West Point cadets in 1962. Many of us, like Stauber, hold these values near to our hearts.
