On a leisurely stroll through the DeWitt-Seitz Marketplace in Canal Park, warped bridges, exposed seams, frayed strings or disjointed neck supports
probably don’t come to mind unless you happen to be Christian Eggert.
Imagine working in an office that ascends 120 feet into the air more than 4,000 times a year. Situated in an office at the center of the Aerial Lift Bridge, supervisor Ryan Beamer is one of ten employees who control when the towering bridge rises and falls. The Budgeteer talked with Beamer about his experiences while working at the bridge for 13 years.
The sheer amount of things to do in Canal Park can be intimidating for infrequent visitors, so follow this walking tour of Duluth’s tourism district and you’ll hit just about everything worthwhile it has to offer.
