FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The NFL is reviewing allegations involving the Vikings’ Brett Favre, who the website Deadspin says sent racy messages and photos to a former sideline reporter while he quarterbacked for the Jets in 2008.
UPDATE: A private jet trimmed in the Vikings’ purple and gold carrying the 40-year-old quarterback landed at an airport outside Minneapolis this afternoon. Favre was then whisked to Viking headquarters, and disappeared into the building. There won't be any sort of news conference until tomorrow.
This is about when Brett Favre starts to ponder his plans for the upcoming season. Will he play or won’t he? Can that weathered 40-year-old body endure another 16-game marathon? Is there anything left in the tank? Is the game still fun?
MINNEAPOLIS — Brett Favre seemed to be joking during an interview that appeared in USA Today on Tuesday, but then again considering the quarterback’s wavering ways, maybe he really will attempt to play at the age of 50.
There was major flooding last week in Wisconsin, a state where Brett Favre used to ply his trade. It was getting pretty deep once again in Mississippi, too, where the drama queen of the South was giving interviews and accepting selected visitors, including one who for some reason still wants to coach him this season.
Brett Favre and Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress might have touched on plenty of subjects Monday, but a deadline for the quarterback to say whether he will play in 2010 wasn’t among them. That’s probably a good thing, considering the status of Favre’s left ankle.
