That big tent at the foot of the Mount Ashwabay Ski Hill isn’t the only reason to travel to Bayfield this summer. A new series, “Summer (Mostly) Thursdays” is a series of free concerts in and around Bayfield with a variety of artists from the Chequamagon Bay area and beyond.
One day after losing her husband to a Lake Superior ice fishing accident, Hannah Stonehouse Hudson of Bayfield took small solace in what she considers one indisputable fact. “He died doing what he loved,” she said Sunday.
A Bayfield woman is accused of the reckless homicide of her 2-year-old daughter and of causing great bodily harm to her 4-year-old daughter, 6-year-old son and 15-year-old sister in a one-car rollover in which she was the driver and the only person wearing a seat belt or safety restraint.

According to the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred on Valhalla Trail east of Forest Road 236 shortly after 5:30 p.m.
The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department, Washburn Area Ambulance Service, City of Ashland Fire Department Para-Medic intercept and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded to the call.
