With a smile on his face and a helmet on his head, Adrian Peterson joined the Minnesota Vikings for the first day of training camp determined to put two troubling issues behind him — his problems holding on to the football and his decision to skip a mandatory minicamp back in June.
Adrian Peterson has been cradling a football in his right arm around Minnesota’s facility the past two weeks, a movie-inspired reminder of the importance of avoiding those fumbles that have plagued him this season — especially last month.
Adrian Peterson admits he spent a little more time carrying a football around Winter Park this week “to get a better feel for the ball.” But the Vikings’ Pro Bowl running back didn’t appear overly concerned about any lingering effects from his recent rash of fumbles.
When star running back Adrian Peterson arrived late to the team’s weekly pregame meeting Saturday, it would have been hard to blame Brad Childress for looking the other way to keep his best player on the field against Jacksonville.
