‘Smash’ clever, but unintelligible some of the time

“Smash,” a play adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher of George Bernard Shaw’s comic novel “An Unsocial Socialist,” contains some witty dialogue. In the production that opened Friday at the College of St. Scholastica, though, a serious portion of it was incomprehensible.

Duluth scores Whiffenpoofs’ only Minnesota show

Duluth scores Whiffenpoofs’ only Minnesota show The Whiffenpoofs, Yale’s top choir — which includes Duluth native Sam Bolen — performs at 7 p.m. Friday at Marshall School, 1215 Rice Lake Road. It will be the only Minnesota performance by the nation’s oldest a cappella singing group. The concert is a benefit for educational travel expenses for Marshall students.
