About the Un-Fair Campaign
What is it? The Un-Fair Campaign was developed to look at racism and to encourage a community dialogue about the causes and solutions.February 05, 2012
Reader's view: The Un-Fair Campaign invites misinterpretation
While I affirm the objective, the Un-Fair Campaign’s message leans on a comprehension of white privilege Duluth lacks. Particularly the slogan, “It’s hard to see racism if you’re white.” It invites misinterpretation.February 05, 2012
Supporter's view: It’s nothing personal, it’s about the systems
The Peace Church Dismantling Racism team firmly believes an opportunity exists now for us as a community to do something we have been doing as a congregation for the past 10 years. The backlash over the launch of the anti-racism Un-Fair Campaign in Duluth last week is an opportunity to look in the mirror when it comes to issues of race and privilege.By Maggie Fink , February 05, 2012
Campaign's view: If we recognize racism, we can stop it
For those of us in the majority it can be hard to see racism.By Ellen O'Neill , February 05, 2012

Critic's view: Alienating the audience creates only anger
The Un-Fair Campaign against racism, launched last week in Duluth, is short-sighted and regressive — and alienating toward people it is trying to reach.By Mat Gilderman , February 05, 2012
Reader's view: White people still deny racism’s existence
The Un-Fair Campaign, launched just last month, is timely.February 05, 2012
Reader's view: Racist tactics are wrong way to fight racism
I was very shocked to see a war waged on racism using racial tactics.February 05, 2012
Reader's view: It’s time to get out of our white cocoon
So often when I have attended an event in Duluth, especially one that focuses on social issues, the complaint is made, “We are only preaching to the choir.” Well, the Un-Fair Campaign has gone way beyond the choir, beyond the choir’s audience and into the whole community!February 05, 2012
Racism easy to see with a little help
By Robin Washington , February 05, 2012
Local view: Racism hidden amid a lifetime of white privilege
It’s hard to see water when you’re a fish. A fish is surrounded by water — literally swimming in it. And so it is hard for a fish to really comprehend what it means to be out of water. How does one understand the buoyancy and softness of water without lying on hard, dry sand? How does one comprehend that others strive for and sometimes die from lack of water when one is instinctively inhaling it? Some fish might say, “I know how others live. I’ve peered above the surface and I get it. I see them bend their necks when they come to drink, so I understand thirst and yearning for water.”By Kevin Skwira-Brown , February 03, 2012
Racism endures here, and campaign reminds us to stop it
SAM COOK: A few years ago, just a day or two after President Obama was elected, I walked into a northern Minnesota deer camp on assignment for the News Tribune. Within moments after welcoming me to the camp, one of the hunters looked at me and said, “Well, I guess they’ll be planting watermelons on the White House lawn now.”By Sam Cook , February 03, 2012
Reader's view: Don’t ignore the shadow sides we all share
Our mayor, Don Ness, is receiving threats and hate mail, all because he supports the anti-racism Un-Fair Campaign (Our View: “Racism campaign has opportunity to educate,” Jan. 31).February 03, 2012
Reader's view: Get specific; leave the moral generalities to churches
Duluth Mayor Don Ness must have something specific in mind with his current reminders about racism.February 03, 2012
