The problem: How to live with someone who puts the roll of toilet paper in with the tail over the top when you know it’s supposed to go down the back.
The solution: Nora Peterson’s “Over-Under Toilet Paper Wonder,” a gizmo that can do either with a quick flick of the wrist.
These may not be the brightest days for downtown Duluth, given that 2009’s retail forecast is the worst in decades, but it could look much worse if not for a stream of visionaries over the past few decades.
As part of a nationwide class-action lawsuit settlement, Younkers stores in Duluth and Superior and Herberger’s in Virginia are giving away a handful of name-brand cosmetics. Eligible customers are entitled to one item worth between $18 and $25.
By the end of this month, Miller Hill Mall is poised to lose at least two of its better known tenants, the Gap and Waldenbooks. The loss reflects a trend for malls across the country: closing retailers and increasing vacancy rates.
