Local dog owners got some welcome news Tuesday night, when the Duluth City Council approved a resolution designating Russell Square and Observation Park as sites for future dog parks, where Fido can run off-leash.
A bone of contention emerged Thursday night, as the Duluth City Council discussed a resolution that could designate two parks — Observation Heights and Russell Square — as sites for future dog parks in the city.
About 60 Lakeside-Lester Park residents attended last night’s Duluth City Council meeting where councilors considered allowing liquor sales in Lakeside. Following an hourlong discussion, councilors agreed to put the matter to a vote of neighborhood residents.
On Monday, David Montgomery, Duluth’s chief administrative officer, asked the City Council to table a pair of ordinances that would have authorized the issuance and sale of additional bonds to support the eastward extension of the Lakewalk to Brighton Beach and the first leg of a Cross-City Trail.
