State Sen. A.J. (Tony) Perpich of Eveleth said yesterday he will formally announce today that he is a candidate for the 8th District congressional seat of the retiring Rep. John Blatnik.
The Duluth City Council last night unanimously approved $1 million in taxpayer obligation bonds toward financing the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area. The bonds are to be paid off through an additional local property tax levy between 1975 and 1995.
