Eight businesses have been paired with empty downtown Duluth storefronts along Superior Street and in the skywalk for the holidays. The empty store spaces will come alive with the work of local artists, handcrafted décor, outdoor gear, African imports, regional food items and more.
Mayor Don Ness and Sen. Roger Reinert were the first two among a cadre of dignitaries and media personnel to descend the Sellwood Building as part of the Greater Downtown Council’s Sidewalk Days Festival.
Downtown businesses had dry enough weather Tuesday to sweep up the sidewalks in front of their storefronts, but the Greater Downtown Council says it will have to postpone today’s phase 2 project, the Lake Place Park cleanup.
The Greater Downtown Council is sponsoring a downtown farmers market every Tuesday at Lake Superior Plaza, at the corner of Superior Street and Lake Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today through Sept. 25.
