Duluth’s first device capable of filtering asbestiform particles from drinking water was installed yesterday in the West Duluth Fire Hall at Cody Street and Central Avenue. Filtered water will be available for the public 24 hours a day.
The Duluth Transit Authority yesterday approved more-frequent rush hour bus service, off-peak schedule improvements and minimal night service to begin in mid-February. Under the plan, buses will cover 60,000 more miles this year than in 1973.
The Duluth Police Department continues to seek the public’s help in locating a missing 74-year-old Duluth woman, Dale Elizabeth Gerard, who lives at Wesley Residence, an assisted-living home in West Duluth.
